    The application will open at 7am on February 1, 2026.
  • Before you begin - be sure to have an electronic copy of your shadow hours documentation, HESI A2 exam scores, and all transcripts so they can be uploaded into the application. This is mandatory for ALL applicants. You will not be able to proceed if you do not have these items available for upload. Additionally, you must have your Wiregrass and VSU student ID numbers to proceed. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

    Once you have successfully submitted your application, a copy of your application will be sent to the email address you provided.

  • A preapplication orientation is held in August each year for students planning to apply in the upcoming admission period.  I attended the orientation. I will upload the verification email that I received from the program director.

  • Statements of Understanding: Tuition & Fees

  • The list of estimated expenses is provided in the packet so that each student can be financially prepared for the expenses encountered in Dental Hygiene clinical training.

    New Student: Failure to purchase equipment on or before the 1st day of class will result in forfeiture of student’s seat in the class to an eligible waitlisted dental hygiene candidate. Faculty will verify all equipment on the first day of the semester. Specific instructions for equipment purchases are provided prior to program entry at the accepted student orientation annually in June. (Note: A newly accepted waitlist candidate will have 7 calendar days to present equipment or valid proof of purchase.)

    Returning Student: Student will be sent home and marked absent from all DHYG classes until all specified equipment has been purchased and verified. Departmental attendance policy will apply to absences. Returning students will be provided with specific purchasing instructions at least 2 weeks prior to the end of each semester.

  • Course Grades

    A grade of "C" or better is required in all classes. Applicants will be ranked on the following formula: Pre-Requisite Science Courses GPA (50%) + Pre-Requisite Non-Science Courses GPA (30%) + HESI A2 Exam (20%). Applicants may apply prior to being core completed, however, they will not receive quality points for incomplete classes.

  • Accepted student orientation attendance requirement

    Accepted students are required to attend a mandatory program orientation session in mid-June.  Failure to attend the orientation will result in forfeiture of your seat in the class.

  • HESI A2 Scores

    Applicants must have a 75 or better on each of the following individual sections of the HESI A2 exam: Reading Comprehensive, Vocabulary, Grammar, Anatomy & Physiology, and Math. Students should obtain the best score possible to improve opportunity for program admission. This exam can be taken at the Valdosta State University or Wiregrass testing center.

  • HESI scores are valid for a single (1) application cycle. Applicants may take the test twice (2 times) per application
    cycle. The HESI test score sheet(s) must be uploaded into the online application for the competitive clinical portion of
    the program. The highest scores from the two attempts will be used in the calculations.
